Introducing Estelle
"Sometimes fate is like a small sandstorm that keeps changing direction."
This character reveal for Tales of Arise follows the journey of our hero, Estelle, as she leaves her idyllic country home in search of adventure. Upon arriving on the edge of the mega city, Estelle dives down to street level with her magic quarterstaff, transforming in mid-air into her battle gear with a customary twist and sparkle in her eye.
This concept-to-completion project gave our team freedom to build the narrative themselves, as well as create the character and environment concept art, in addition to lighting and post production. Utilising an anime-inspired design aesthetic, this fun little character reveal combines stylised 3D character animation with 2D FX and cel animation. The 2D FX emanating from a transforming Estelle nicely complements the 2D flat looking shading on Estelle.
