‘What does the Smart City of tomorrow look like?’
The challenge put to us by DFAT was to show the idea of a Smart City brought to life on screen for the ASEAN conference for a relatively small but important audience of delegates.
“Oh, and can you deliver a first cut in 3 weeks?”
Sure.
The client had a particular video animation style in mind. Together we worked on it and turned it into this continuous flowing, storytelling style which covered all the topics to be discussed at the conference. 2D animation was used but adding layers of parallax gave it an almost 3D look.
The deadline was tight so Executive Creative Director Callan Woolcock put three animators on the job. “The client had some good reference but we wanted to add some more depth to it. And they wanted it colourful and vibrant. It all just evolved from there.”
